Sometimes this brave new world scares me!
I'm in this new century, here all the way but some of the ways of this world are hard for me to grasp. Like "cutting and pasting".
What?
To cut, one needs a pair of scissors. To paste, one needs a tangible thing to paste! That's how its done in the actual world. In the virtual world, its all done with a keystroke.
A what?
Okay, a keystroke is what its called each time one depresses one of the keys on the keyboard.
Wow! I'm still reeling from watching a man walking on the moon. Not really. I was always a sci-fi kid so I could get to the whole space thing easily. I'm trying to put the computer process in the same light as buying a ticket to orbit the Earth.
Somehow, its easier for me to imagine strapping myself in for my orbit trip than it is for me to cut and paste.
I'll get it.
Hi Kat,
ReplyDeleteI hear what your saying. The virtual world has snuck up on us. It's amazing how we can do things with the touch of a key! The thing that is the hardest for me to grasp is the cell phone. I can not for the life of me, figure out how to get on the internet on my phone! Everything is so small! Small buttons to put in email addresses and to text with. When I go on my Facebook and see that my daughter's have posted comments, I know they are doing it through their phones, not their pc. I don't get it, and probably never will..lol..but hey, I have a blog now and never thought I would! Go figure!
Hi Kat, My husband and I have come to the realization that we have to go with the times, it has been hard for us because all of this new technology is very sophisticated. I love having my computer and my new phone and it is very amazing what these new things can do.
ReplyDeleteHi Kat,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your post. You put a good twist on cutting and pasting. I must say, I truly enjoyed my last class – it taught me a lot about getting around on the computer. It was a software application class. My biggest problem is breaking old habits, I am trying to improve my touch typing – but since I have started school – it is improving, slowly. Practice makes – things better (on this one I can’t quiet say perfect!) Hopefully by the time I finish school this will be something I can master. Good luck on the Earth orbit.
